Exclusive Kenya Tour - 9 Days Meru/Samburu/Masai Mara
Day 1: Arrival - Nairobi
Upon arrival, transfer from Nairobi airport to Nairobi
Serena Hotel, a member of the Leading Hotels of the
World for an overnight on bed and breakfast.
Day 2: Nairobi - Meru National Park
You will be collected at 0630hrs from your hotel and
transferred to Wilson Airport to catch the 0745hrs am
AirKenya scheduled flight to Meru National Park. On
arrival at 0845hrs, you will be met by a driver-guide
and taken to the lodge. Made famous by the film “Born
Free” and George Adamson’s lions, the lodge and its 9
cottages are invisible to the eye as you approach the
kopje. Settle in and relax by the swimming pool before
lunch. After an early afternoon siesta at the poolside
or on your own panoramic verandah, enjoy an extended
afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at
Elsa's Kopje, B,L,D
Elsa's Kopje: The 9 stone and thatch guest cottages are
crafted around the natural features of the hill. Paved
paths, lit by lamps at night, lead from each cottage to
the comfortable open bar, lounge and dining room. There
is a sense of space, style and pure relaxation. The
ultimate ‘pool with a view’ looks out across the plains,
perfect for chilling out after a game drive or guided
walk in the bush. Every cottage is uniquely designed.
The generous double or twin beds are romantically
swathed in netting. The bathrooms are sumptuous: showers
or baths made out of stone, modern flush toilets, bidets
and double basins. One double cottage is set slightly
apart from the others, ideal for families with children
or a group. It has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom
(bathrooms en-suite).
Elsa’s Private House was completed in June 2005. Built
by the original designer of Elsa’s Kopje. Elsa’s Private
House is set apart from the rest of the lodge, providing
complete exclusivity and privacy. The house consists of
two double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom with a large
bath-tub. There is a spacious twin room, with en-suite
bathroom. The living area spills into your very own
private swimming pool. The pool falls neatly into the
horizon beyond the Meru plains. Elsa’s Private House
provides guests with their very own piece of Kopje
paradise. One of Kenya’s best pools with a view!
Day 3: Meru National Park
Full days in Meru staying at Elsa's Kopje. Take an early
morning guided walk in the bush to work up your appetite
or take an extended game drive with picnic breakfast to
explore the many rivers transecting the park. We may
come across basking Hippo’s and Crocodiles. Return to
the lodge for lunch. Late afternoon sundowners in the
park before a dusk game drive home, Elsa's Kopje, B,L,D.
Day 4: Meru - Samburu Game Reserve
Depart on the AirKenya scheduled flight at 0845hrs. On
arrival at Samburu airstrip your driver/guide will meet
you and transfer you to Larsens Camp. After lunch, take
a late afternoon game drive, returning to camp for
dinner. The camp is set in the ravine forests on the
life sustaining Ewaso Nyiro River and guests can watch
the wildlife drink at dawn and dusk from their own
tents, Larsens Camp, B,L,D.
Larsens Camp: With just 20 tented accommodations, all
inclusive adventures offer distinct luxury African
safari experiences. There are 20 free standing luxurious
tented accomodations each with a private balcony.
All tents are discreetly sited along the west bank of
the Uaso Nyiro River with the result that the tents are
bathed with light at sunrise. Each tent stands on a
plinth of natural stone and all have en suite private
bathrooms stocked with a range of Molton Brown
toiletries, flushing toilets, constant hot water and 24
hour electricity (240 volts). Each tent features 1 king
or 2 twin beds designed in chic safari style.
Day 5: Samburu
Spend the day exploring this savagely beautiful, arid
ecosystem. Famous also for its endemic species like
Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Oryx and Gerenuk,
the river is an arterial lifeline for the abundant
wildlife, Larsens Camp, B,L,D.
Day 6: Samburu - Masai Mara
After an early breakfast transfer to the airstrip to
catch the 0915hrs AirKenya flight to the Masai Mara.
Your driver/guide will meet you at the airstrip and
transfer you to Little Governors' Camp with game viewing
enroute for lunch and afternoon leisure. Later enjoy an
afternoon game viewing with a return to the camp for
dinner and overnight, Little Governors' Camp, B,L,D.
Little Governors' Camp: Intimate in character, there are
just 17 tents tucked around a large watering-hole that
teems with animal and bird life. From every veranda the
view changes daily: Giraffe and Lion, Elephant and
Warthog.
Getting here is an adventure in itself, you first have
to cross the Mara River by boat, then walk a short
distance, escorted by armed guards, through the forest.
All the tents are comfortable and tasteful. Each has
en-suite bathroom, hot water, even bidets. In keeping
with safari tradition lighting is by gas and kerosene
lantern or candlelight. As dusk falls the flickering
lights in the forest make the camp a uniquely peaceful
and atmospheric place. Guests seem to enjoy mingling
with the staff and each other, and because of the
smallness of the camp, you really feel special. Meals
are the camp's usual superlative standards, served, as
is our style, outdoors during the day or in our
candlelit dining tent. Come the evening it’s time for
chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing
campfire. Then, finally, a delicious dinner and a
hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed.
Day 7 & 8: Masai Mara
Enjoy two full days in Masai Mara with two game drives
daily - morning and afternoon in this natural wonder of
Masai Mara is to be explored now which includes the
extensive plains which include not only the well known
predatory animals but also with Zebra, Wildebeest,
Giraffe, Hippo and the dangerous Crocodiles. Breakfast,
lunch, dinner and overnight at Little Governors' Camp,
B,L,D.

1100hrs AirKenya flight back to Nairobi. Our driver will
transfer you to The Carnivore Restaurant for lunch.
Continue to your Nairobi hotel for the night on half
board, Ngong House, B,L,D.
Ngong House: Located on ten acres in the outskirts of
Nairobi near the coffee farm of Karen Blixen, author of
“Out of Africa,” this hotel is run by a former Belgian
diplomat. Accommodations are in treehouses, a private
cottage and log cabin; elevated 15 feet off the ground,
